Event date: 03/07/2021

Members will be coming together at A.C.E Academy to experience the outdoor learning site, make fairy fires and enjoy Kelly kettle refreshments alongside fire cooked bannock, finishing off with some axe throwing. As one of our members, A.C.E Academy will be launching its outdoor learning programmes with Portree schools in September after training with Wild Things (Findhorn) and we are excited to see all the work they’ve been doing ready for their launch.

As part of the Climate Féis we are also very excited to announce West Coast OWL’s launch event on Wednesday 11th August 11:00 – 15:00. We will be running it in Balmacara Woodland Park and offering a range of activities including storytelling, willow weaving, fairy fires, fairy houses, stone painting and a woodland picnic. We look forward to welcoming parents, teachers and outdoor practitioners to a festive day together and we’ll be inviting all attendees to share their aspirations and hopes for West Coast OWL.

Learning and Wellbeing in Nature for the Climate Féis

Event date: 01/08/2021

During August, Skye Climate Action is hosting a “Climate Féis” to share activities and events promoting climate justice alongside the importance of our relationships with land, place, traditions and the outdoors. West Coast OWL will be doing a daily post on Social Media and on the festival’s website to share activities for learning and wellbeing outdoors. Members have already been contributing great resources using Gaidhlig and English, and we hope these daily posts will inspire many people to step outside to enjoy, play and rest in nature.
