Spring Herbal Foraging CPD for Glasgow Educators

Created by GROWL | Event date 26.04.20

Pollok Country Park. Identify and learn about locally-abundant wild herbs and explore their amazing traditional and medicinal uses. Join Lauren Lochrie of Herbal Homestead for a Glasgow forage were we will be tuning into the new season's growth and abundance! We will be identifying and gently harvesting wild herbs on the walk, followed by using the plants to make an internal and an external preparation - your own take-home medicines! These remedies will help to gently stimulate and revitalise the body after the slower-paced, colder months of winter. This CPD workshop will help teachers, early years practitioners and outdoor learning educators to incorporate foraging and plant identification and basic herbal medicine into their education work. As this course is subsidised by OWL Scotland, places are only available to those who currently work, or plan to work, outdoors with groups in the Glasgow Region. MEETING POINT: At the Riverside Car Park near Pollok House. Arrive 10 minutes before start time. WHAT TO BRING: At least one empty jar for herbal preparations. A packed lunch, water and mug for a hot drink (drink provided) WHAT TO WEAR: Sensible, outdoor footwear such as walking boots, clothing layers and a waterproof jacket/trousers.
